Justification
I chose this skill because I love mashed potatoes they are delicious! I think mashed potatoes are a really simple and easy thing to make. You can make them in so many different ways. You can use all sorts of different ingredients. Mashed potatoes are the most popular around thanksgiving.
Task Overview
This diy will teach you to make one of the most common side dishes in meals. The making of mashed potatoes has been around since 1962. Mashed potatoes are most common with dishes around thanksgiving. By the end of this diy you'll know how to make mashed potatoes full of flavor. The downside is mashed potatoes can be pretty messy to keep cleaning supplies near for later on.
Materials
- 5Ib bag of potatoes
- 1 packet of hidden valley party ranch mix
- a regular size tube of sour cream
- 1 stick of butter
- 1 bag of shredded Mexican cheese
- 1 half lb of bacon
- 1 pasta pan and strainer
- 1 mixing bowl and mixture/ hand mixture
- 1 big cooking spoon
- 1 frying pan
- 1 spatula
- 1 plate
- cutting bored
- 1 roll of paper towels
- paring knife/peeler
- fork (optional)
- stove top
- sink with running water
- milk may or may not be needed (optional)
Steps
Step 1: buy the ingredients from the store
Step 2: take the ingredients home
Step 3: get out your pasta pan and strainer, frying pan, spatula, big cooking spoon, plate, and paring knife/peeler, fork, cutting bored, mixing bowl and mixture or hand mixture.
Step 4: put the strainer in the side of the sick that doesn't have the garbage disposal then put your pasta pan in the side of the sink with the garbage disposal and fill the pan with water.
Step 5: put your pasta pan with water on the then open your bag of potato's
Step 6: turn on the facet and rinse a potato cut off any eyes you find or (you can cut their eyes and peel off all the skin with a peeler (optional), ( make sure you cut/peel on the side of the sink with the garbage disposal (to get rid of the eyes/peels)), then put the potato's in the pan.
Step 7: Repeat step 6 until your done with the whole bag.
Step 8: take your pan with the water and potato's to the stove onto a burner and put it on high. ( potato's should cook 15 to 20 minutes or until you can easily put a fork threw them).
Step 9: take your plate set it on the counter near the stove and lay down some paper towels over it.
Step 10: put your frying pan on the stove on a burner.
Step 11: open your bacon and lay the strips out in the frying pan ( not all may fit at a time so your repeat this part of the step).
Step 12: turn on the burner, keep the bacon between medium and high heat it should take between 12 to 15 minutes for each side to cook ( flip sides with your spatula) to get the bacon crispy it should take about 20 minutes.
Step 13: once you've cooked all your bacon put the bacon on the plate and cover it with a sheet of paper towel to keep it warm.
Step 14: put your cutting bored on the counter
Step 15: by now your potato's should be done cooking to check pock one with a fork if it goes threw and is soft their done. turn off the burner then take your pan off the burner and empty the potato's into the strainer and set your pan on the cutting bored. then empty the potato's back into the pan, ( if using mixing bowl and mixture empty potato's into mixing bowl).
Step 16: start putting in your ingredients starting with the butter so it starts to melt then start adding the rest, party mix, bacon, sour cream next mix them together.
Step 17: Lastly add the cheese and then mix it again and your done your potato's are ready to serve (you can serve out of the pan with your big cooking spoon or put the potato's in a smaller pan (optional)).
